Somebody that I used to know.

So I haven't written in a while sorry about that. I have been busy working and hanging out with the children. They are so great! I have had a couple adventures. I met up with some awesome girls for karaoke on Tuesday and had a blast. I'm so happy I found a place to do that here because I couldn't live without it. :) Then on Thursday I was suppose to go to a cooking class with my friend Molly but we ended up being super late and then gave up finding the place. So we went out and had some drinks instead. Let's just say the German beer is much stronger than the American beer I'm used to. We went to a Australian bar that had karaoke and had some drinks and sang some songs. Then we went to a club and had more drinks and after that I really couldn't tell you what we did. I had way to much to drink and I was a goner at that point. I didn't make it home until 5:30am the next morning and I paid for my actions the next day. ugh! I had a blast though and it was worth it.

On another note I am addicted to a song here and can't get it out of my head. I don't know if it's playing in America or not but it should be. Let me know if you have heard it. I'm posting the video for you guys. :) Love and miss you all!

Winter Wonderland

Today the girls and I went out in the snow storm and made some awesome snowmen. It was so much fun. It took the dad, Elin, Merit, and Me forever to roll the second piece of the snowman onto his lower body. We used an old door they had in the shed and rolled the body portion up it. It was a blast. I got extremely soaked because I of course do not have proper snow attire. It was worth it though.

Nuts?

Okay so Amy and I went to Shamrocks again tonight and it was so much fun. We sang some karaoke and she poured her cider all over me. Then we got super drunk and laughed all the way home. I video tapped some very interesting parts. By the way Amy is awesome and I love her. I don't want her to go. Unfortunately, I can't get the video to upload at the moment so I will have to post it later. On the way home we also ran across a transvestite on the train. He was wearing the most ridiculous outfit.  It was like a mixture between bondage, hooker, and goth. lol. It was quite hilarious.

Tomorrow is Amy's last day here and I'm sad to see her go. We have bonded so much in the time we have had together and we have had so much fun. I don't think I have laughed this much in such a short period of time in my life. Now I have a reason to visit South Africa, which is one of the places I have always dreamed of going, so that's awesome. :)

Amy you will truly be missed!

SHAMROCKS

So things here have been going really well so far. I have been spending most of my days following Amy around and trying to learn as much from her as I can before she leaves. She did however, take me to an Irish pub on Tuesday called Shamrocks. We took the train into town and ended up on this back road where shamrocks is located. It's a very cute bar and it's nice because most everyone there speaks English. I got to sing karaoke and it was a blast. Germans really know how to do karaoke. Everyone sings along and dances. They just really have a great time. I had my first beverage there and it was a pear flavored cider. It was so good. It was really funny because on the way home the trains had stopped due to construction so Amy and I had to find our way back home by bus. We ended up being somewhat lost and had to take a taxi home.

Tonight Amy took me to Los Banditos. It is a Mexican style restaurant/ bar. It has a all you can eat buffet and it was pretty yummy. Defiantly different than the mexican food I have back home. We decided to call it an early night because we are going out tomorrow night and meeting up with some of Amy's friends to have drinks. Should be fun!!

This was my first alcoholic beverage in Germany and it was so yummy

Here at last! :)

I am so happy to finally be here. The last leg of my flight went really smooth. On my long flight to Norway I sat next to two really nice girls from Norway. They were coming back from Costa Rica and spoke really good English. One of the girls was actually an Au Pair in the states. She gave some great advise and helped me understand the announcements over the intercom because they were not in English. Then on my flight to Munich I sat next to the cutest little boy from Turkey and his mom. He didn't speak any English but still talked to me. He was adorable. That flight was only an hour and fifty minutes so it was a very nice flight. It was kinda funny because my flight from Portland to New York was five hours and they didn't give me anything to eat yet the flight from Norway to Munich they did. It was some weird food too. It was like some small meatball sausage things with sweet mustard in the middle.  It was very interesting.

When I got to the airport I didn't see the family right away and it kinda scared me a little but then they found me. The father (Stephen) and the youngest girl (Merit) picked me up. They were very sweet and the Merit is so cute and sweet. She is extremely hyperactive and is a non-stop talker. When I got to the house I met the Mother (Antje), oldest daughter (Elin), the son (Felix), and the current Au Pair (Amy). Everyone was so nice to me and very welcoming. We hung out and talked in the kitchen while the mom made dinner. Then we all had dinner together and it was nice but awkward because they all talked German to each other and I was completely lost. I had no idea what they were talking about. I guess I have to get used to it if I intend to stay here.

After dinner I went upstairs and took a shower and went to bed around 9 o'clock and I slept SO good. woke up this morning around 8 o'clock wide awake. I went downstairs and talked with Amy and she showed me the morning routine. It basically consists of cleaning up after breakfast. She went over some things with me this morning on what my duties are and how things work. The mom is super sweet but I noticed this morning that she is super anal. Everything in the house is labeled. EVERYTHING! She is very organized and particular about how things are done. After cleaning up Amy and I went to the market to get some groceries and so I could buy some toiletries. I noticed when we got to the market that the gas here is super cheap. Its only like 1.30 euros. crazy!! I was completely lost in the market. After the market we went to the bakery and the butcher shop. I have to go get fresh meat and bread everyday. Germans love their meat and bread. Then we came home and I unpacked my suitcases and got everything organized and ready. I took a couple pictures of my room and of the stuff I got at the store. It's funny because I recognized the bottles but its written in German on the front.  I'll have better pictures later. ENJOY.....

My flight so far!

My flight so far has been stressful. it seems like everything has been a pain. I barely made my first flight because of a ticket problem. Then it took me forever to get through security. I didn't sleep a wink last night and I didn't have anything to eat in the morning before my flight. I was planning on eating something before at the airport but that didn't work out so well. Lol. so I went my entire flight to new york without any food and hardly any sleep (due to the fact I got a middle seat). When I finally got to New York I had to change terminals and go through security AGAIN!! It took me a little over an hour to get through security and I finally got something to eat. Wasn't the best food but there wasn't much to choose from. I am now waiting to board my flight to Norway and I'm so exhausted! I hope I sleep most the way on this flight.....hopefully I won't have a middle seat again. Wish me luck. Miss and love you all.

Almost on my way!

I am sitting at my brothers house and it's almost 4 am in the morning. we will be leaving here around 5:15. I figured whats the point in sleeping when I have to be up so early so I have not slept a wink. I am super nervous and super excited! I am so tired at this point that everything is super funny and Davey is cracking me up. We are watching "Infested" and it's about these bats that infected these peoples house...I don't know why but its so funny. Mostly because Davey is freaking out. haha! So I joined this group on Facebook and it's called Au Pairs in Munich 2012. I have already talk to one girl who was so super nice and made me feel much more relaxed about it. I'm so happy to have someone to hangout with and show me the ropes. :) I really think this is going to be such a great experience. :)
